The University of Alberta offers a range of sustainability courses directly or indirectly linked to the ecological, environmental, social, and cultural facets of sustainability. Many faculty are engaged in sustainability-related research.
The University of Alberta is a charter member of the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System™ (STARS). This is a voluntary self-reporting framework for recognizing and gauging relative progress towards sustainability. We are awarded credit in this system for identifying and reporting on our sustainability-focused and sustainability-related courses.

Augustana Sustainability 101
These 1-day courses offered by Augustana Extended Education cover five pillars of sustainability: governance, economic, social, environmental and cultural. Taking a public policy-based approach speaks to braoder issues, challenges and dynamics affecting rural communities.
Funding is available to cover up to 2/3 of the total cost of training.
