Working Groups

The University of Alberta has working groups committed to developing solutions and piloting innovative ideas that advance our institution’s sustainability performance.  

Sustainable Purchasing Working Group

Co-Chaired by Supply Management Services and the Office of Sustainability, this team provides leadership related to the purchasing of socially and environmentally responsible goods and services by the university. They explore and make recommendations regarding key opportunities, share information, and identify opportunities to collaborate on pilot projects. See terms of reference for more information.

Waste Diversion Working Group

Co-Chaired by Buildings & Grounds Services and Energy Management and Sustainable Operations, this team takes a zero waste approach to the university’s solid waste. They collaborate on new initiatives that reduce waste or divert it from landfill,  track and report progress, and identify opportunities to connect to teaching and research. Sustainable Food Working Group

Co-Chaired by the Office of Sustainability and Energy Management & Sustainable Operations, this team explores ways of creating a resilient, engaging and sustainable food system at the University of Alberta. See terms of reference for more information.
