The University of Alberta’s second annual Sustainability Awareness Week took place October 19-23, 2009. This year, the Office of Sustainability partnered with seven other university collaborators, including: the Student's Union, ECOS, Campus Sustainability Coalition, U of A Energy Club, Career and Placement Services (CAPS), the Faculty of Education and the School of Energy and the Environment (SEE).
This collaboration enabled Sustainability Awareness Week 2009 to deliver 26 events on four campuses and reach over 4000 people. Activities highlighted the three strands of sustainability on campus (Facilities & Operations, Teaching & Research, and Outreach & Engagement).
Sustainability Awareness Week 2009 events included:
- Sustainability awareness fair
- Green careers forum
- Water awareness program
- Hybrid fleet vehicle display
- Local food lunch and dinner
- Elementary school community concert
- Informational workshops
- Sustainability-themed lectures and panel discussions
