The University of Alberta takes a decentralized, institute-wide approach to sustainability.
Institutional Strategic Plan
For the Public Good is the University of Alberta’s institutional strategic plan. It outlines the strategies and goals that UAlberta will pursue over the coming decade. The plan identifies how we will move ahead to address five strategic goals. It calls on the campus community to "SUSTAIN our people, our work, and the environment by attracting and stewarding the resources we need to deliver excellence to the benefit of all".
Institutional Sustainability Plan
The 2016-2020 Sustainability Plan collates the many strategic goals, initiatives and practices that will guide the University of Alberta's efforts to be sustainable - environmentally, socially and economically. The Sustainability Plan is also backstopped by a companion document that provides more detailed information about the goals and strategies required to deepen sustainability education and scholarship.
Office of Sustainability
The Office of Sustainability was established in 2009 to serve as the hub for the campus sustainability initiative. The office collaborates with students, faculties and staff to ensure an institution-wide approach to sustainability covering teaching & research, outreach & engagement, and facilities & operations.
The Office of Sustainability unifies the vision and direction of sustainability initiatives on campus, while encouraging the many individuals, departments and organizations across campus community to nurture their own approaches to advancing sustainability.
